Day 1 low-cost PPH simulation circuit: four simultaneous stations

No.

Technique focus

Practice objective

A

Segment-specific uterine haemostasis

Practise upper- and lower-segment haemostasis using uterine compression sutures and uterine bandage principles.

B

Emergency vascular control

Practise internal and external manual aortic compression, vaginal compression of the uterine arteries and placement of a uterine tourniquet.

C

Intraoperative uterine tamponade

Compare and practise hydrostatic Bakri balloon tamponade and uterine tamponade by suction during cesarean section.

D

Pelvic packing and damage control

Practise pelvic packing with compresses and review the artisanal subatmospheric-pressure system and escalation criteria.
